Day family newsletter - March 2012

April 1, 2012

NEWS FROM THE DAYS:

Yesterday, I golfed at Bonneville and the temperature hit 80 degrees! This morning, it snowed? No, not April fools, just Utah weather.

Linda and I have seen more movies this past month than in years – Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (about 9/11), The Lorax (with the grandkids), Wanderlust, and The Hunger Games. We also saw a very good play at the U Pioneer Theater, Laughing Stock.

Linda has been having physical therapy for arthritis in the shoulder, and is taking special medicine for her knee pain. And my medical ailment, the inability to always hear what is said, has been helped with my new HED’s (hearing enhancement devices). Or as you know them, hearing aids. Huh? Adult pampers, a close companion of HED’s, are on the back burner, for now.

We continue to have Stephanie’s kids over every other weekend while she studies, and Steph is pleased to announce her graduation date at SLCC, May 3rd! We also had Kaylee up one weekend.

We look forward to seeing Christopher home from the Army after his four year enrollment. Luckily, his overseas deployment was Bahrain, and he was never deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan.

Jessica, just turned 9 years old, has been asking me to teach her piano on the weekends the kids come over. After we went to Daynes Music store, I found a beginning book series, and started her on lessons three weeks ago. Since I’m not really qualified to be teaching piano, I agreed to just start her on the beginning books. She already has been taking violin lessons for several months, and just had her first recital. She is so talented in music, as well as art and dancing.

I helped Danny purchase a new mattress/box spring set, as well as new bedding. When Danny sat on different beds at RC Willey, he reminded me of the three bear’s story. This one is OK.…….this one’s too hard…….oh, this once is just right! He also picked out a stylish burgundy paisley comforter and some burgundy sheets with a 375 thread count (luckily, I called Linda for advice – who knew thread count was important). With most on the stuffed animals gone, Danny can now go to bed one hour later as he doesn’t have to rearrange his wild animal park (stuffed animal collection) to get into bed! Danny’s hernia operation was a success and thanks again to everyone who helped out.

Linda joined Katie one day for little 3 yr. old Jack’s preschool lunch program. Little Sofie is walking now. How time flies. Debbie got a new car after her old one was demolished by a drunk driver, and she’s out looking for a small ATV for Kaylee this weekend. Jackie and Wiggins are getting closer to moving out of their motor home and purchasing a home. Katie and Bill hosted Jack’s 3rd birthday party at Jungle Gyms. Unfortunately I missed it as this was the weekend of Danny’s surgery. Well, gotta go, I’m missing conference..…………….April fools. Love, Tom & Linda
